Padel Court Dimensions Explained: Size, Walls, Net and Lines

The short version
Quick take. Under the International Padel Federation rules, a padel court is a 20 x 10 m rectangle, enclosed by walls. The net is 0.88 m high in the centre and 0.92 m at the ends. The back walls are 4 m high (3 m of wall and 1 m of mesh), and the service lines are 6.95 m from the net. The ceiling should be at least 6 m high, and 8 m is recommended.
Length, width and lines
The playing area is 20 m long and 10 m wide. A net divides it into two 10 x 10 m halves. On each side, a service line runs across the court 6.95 m from the net, and a centre line divides the area between the net and the service line into two service boxes. Our serve guide explains how they are used.
The net
The net is 0.88 m high in the middle and 0.92 m at the posts, a little lower than a tennis net at the centre. That low middle is why balls down the centre are so useful; see left or right side on who covers it.
The walls
- Back walls: 3 m of solid wall, usually glass, with 1 m of metal mesh above, so 4 m in total.
- Side walls: the federation allows two designs. In one, the wall steps down along the side, from 3 m high for the first 2 m to 2 m high for the next 2 m, with mesh beyond. In the other, the wall is 3 m high for 4 m and mesh rises to 4 m along the whole side.
- Doors in the side mesh let players in, and on some courts players may run out through them to chase a ball.
How the ball behaves off each surface is in our back glass guide.
Height above the court
Indoor courts need at least 6 m of clear height, and 8 m is recommended, so high lobs don't hit the roof. That matters in Bangkok, where many courts are under a roof for shade and rain.
Seeing it for yourself
Every club on our court guide is built to these basic measures, though cover, lighting and glass vary. Try a few and tell us your favourite on the Bangkok Padel Community on Facebook.
