What to Pack in Your Padel Bag: A Bangkok Checklist

The short list
Quick take. Racket (with protector), a fresh tube of balls, spare overgrip, water bottle, towel, spare shirt, padel or court shoes, cap for open courts and a small bag for wet kit. A bag with a thermal pocket keeps the racket cool on the way.
The essentials
- Racket. With a tight frame protector; see our racket care tips. New to the game? Most clubs rent one.
- Balls. A new tube for matches. See ball prices in Thailand.
- Shoes. Padel or clay-court shoes with grip for sand-filled turf. Running shoes slip and wear out fast; read our shoe guide.
For the Bangkok climate
- Water bottle, ideally insulated. Drink at every changeover; see our heat guide.
- Spare overgrip. Humidity wears them fast. Our overgrip guide explains which to buy.
- Towel and spare shirt. You will need both after an evening game.
- Cap and sunscreen for open courts.
- A plastic bag for wet clothes, so they don't sit next to your racket.
Small extras
- Wristbands and a headband.
- A few plasters and some tape for blisters.
- Cash or a phone payment app for court fees and a drink afterwards.
- A light rain jacket in the wet season, from about May to October; see our season guide.
About the bag itself
A padel bag has a padded racket section and, often, a thermal pocket. That pocket matters in Bangkok: heat can soften the core of a racket left in a hot car or on a scooter seat. A backpack style works well if you travel by BTS or motorbike taxi.
Ready to play

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special padel bag?
No, but it helps. A padel bag has a padded compartment shaped for rackets, and many have a thermal pocket that keeps the racket away from heat.
Do Bangkok clubs supply balls?
It varies by club and booking. Many sell or rent balls at the desk, but bringing your own fresh tube saves time and means you know what you're playing with.
What should a beginner bring to their first padel game?
Court shoes, comfortable sports clothes, a water bottle and a towel. Most clubs rent rackets, so you can try before you buy.
